Clients invest in professional photoshoot to capture and celebrate meaningful moments and important stages of life, whether documenting their child's growth and milestones or creating lasting portraits of themselves. The photoshoot can serve as a coming-of-age experience, marking the transition from childhood to greater independence and maturity. They provide a lasting record of the young person's personality, achievements, confidence, and individuality at a pivotal moment in their development. For many, portraits also commemorate significant personal milestones, including a celebration of the transition from teenager to young adult, graduations, or the beginning of a new chapter in life. In some cases, photography can play a meaningful role in expressing acceptance and support when a young person comes out as LGBTQ+, creating empowering images that affirm their identity and help document an important moment in their personal journey.Ultimately, modern day professional portraits are more about appearance, they are a way for parents to honour their child's growth, celebrate who they are becoming, and preserve memories that will be treasured by family for generations. In a world shaped by social media and visual culture, young people are constantly influenced by the images that define confidence and identity. Zoomer meets this moment head-on—moving beyond outdated, staged portraits to deliver something raw, relevant, edgy yet safe, and unmistakably authentic and real.
Bring a selection of outfits you feel confident in. This is your chance to show your style. A mix of casual, smart, and sporty looks works best. Think t shirts, hoodies, and smart button up shirts. These are always solid choices and give you a good range of looks.Don’t be afraid to think outside the box. Sportswear like football kits, or gym wear, or something more unique like a kilt, judo gi or boxing kit can really make your photos stand out. There is also a growing trend among teens and young adult males towards confident, body-positive and empowering shirtless shots. If you would like to try this, keep it simple with smart trousers or tailored shorts to create a clean and sophisticated look that feels natural and self-assured, but also mature, with an unapologetic edge.Bring along a few props to personalise your photos. A musical instrument is always a popular choice, as well as a skateboard or sports equipment such as a cricket bat or tennis racket. Even something unexpected like a soft toy can be a fun option, no matter your age, and helps show off your personality. A flag to wrap yourself in can also create a bold and striking look.

Zoomer was inspired by my nephews and their friends, who wanted portraits that feel fresh and genuinely different, capturing their individual personalities with authenticity. Each photoshoot is thoughtfully guided with sensitivity and care, helping young people feel at ease, express their individuality, and embrace their unique style. The images depart from traditional, presenting a fresh aesthetic that is effortlessly contemporary, bold and unapologetically edgy while remaining refined, stylish, and fashionable. There is also a growing trend among young males towards confident, body positive shirtless shots. If you would like to try this, keep it simple with smart trousers or shorts to create a clean, modern look that feels natural and self assured. The result is a collection of portraits that feel natural, confident, and authentic, images they can be genuinely proud of having ownership of.Many of my clients tell me their session far exceeds expectations. They’re often pleasantly surprised by how relaxed and enjoyable the experience feels, and by the confidence and warmth they see reflected back at them in the final images.
No, in addition to studio sessions, your photos can be taken at a location of your choice.Lifestyle images can be captured in your home, in the garden, or outdoors in a country park, woodland, or countryside, or even at the gym you train at or another place that reflects your character.
Absolutely. My photography celebrates each stage of a young person's journey, from childhood through to young adulthood, in a respectful, positive, and age-appropriate way. Each photograph captures not only appearance, but also personality, emotion, confidence, and individuality.Young people are naturally influenced by the photography and imagery they see every day on social media, in fashion and lifestyle magazines, and through modern advertising. I understand these influences and work with clients to adapt them in a tasteful, age-appropriate, and creative way that reflects who they are while remaining authentic and respectful. The photoshoot is very much client-led, helping to create a collection of images that genuinely represent them as an individual.I work with clients on expression, styling, behaviour, and posing to create contemporary, artistic images, although many of the strongest photographs come from spontaneous moments during the shoot. The result is a collection of natural, memorable images that clients and their families can treasure for years to come.My style evolves with the age and personality of the client—subtle, fun, and playful for younger children, becoming progressively more expressive, confident, and creative for teens and young adults. For tweens and teens, all images are created with the informed consent of both the client and their parent or guardian. Young adults provide their own consent. When I look at my galleries, I see fun and joy in childhood, self-discovery and reflection during the teenage years, and confidence and self-assurance in young adulthood. Together, they tell the story of growing up—a journey worth celebrating and preserving through beautiful photography.
Body-positive imagery has become increasingly influential among teenagers and young adults, driven largely by social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest. These platforms encourage engagement with visual content and discussions surrounding self-image, identity, and personal expression. For many young males, body-positive portraiture can provide a valuable experience because it offers something they may not often encounter elsewhere: an opportunity to be seen and represented without pressure to conform to idealized body standards. Such imagery can help promote self-confidence, self-acceptance, and a healthier relationship with body image.A well-composed shirtless portrait image may fall within a body-positive approach when it is created to help the subject express confidence, overcome insecurities, celebrate personal achievements, or present themselves authentically. In these circumstances, the subject's comfort, agency, and informed consent are central to the purpose and process of the photography.Ultimately, body-positive portraiture is defined less by the amount of clothing worn and more by the intention behind the image, the photographer's approach, and the subject's experience during and after the photographic session. The focus is typically on authenticity, self-acceptance, and personal empowerment rather than appearance-based validation.OverallBody-positive portraiture is increasingly popular among younger generations because it aligns with broader cultural movements focused on authenticity, inclusivity, mental well-being, and self-acceptance. Overall, body-positivity and body-diversity movements have become mainstream among Generation Z and younger millennials, with a powerful presence across social media and modern youth culture.
